These are the "Midway" style shoes from Earth. I found them cheap (well, cheap for Earth shoes) and decided to give them a shot. I've read a lot of good things about Earth shoes, especially for people with foot, knee, or joint problems. This pair is from the "lite" line, designed to weigh almost nothing. They're also vegan, which I love.
They took some time getting used to. For a while I couldn't tell if they were making things worse or better. But after about two weeks I just got used to them, and now they're amazing.
Not only do I not need my orthotics with these, but they're also super light weight. They feel like I'm wearing bedroom slippers. They're crazy comfortable. Also, they got drenched in last week's snow storm, and you can't tell at all. They dried without staining or warping.
I don't really like how they look. I think they look like those things you wear on your feet at a waterpark. They're not awful, but they're not attractive. They're too casual to work in.
I also don't like that now that I've worn them, regular shoes are harder to wear. Nothing else is as comfortable. I could repopulate my shoe collection with Earth shoes, but that's quite an investment that I'm not prepared for right now.
Bottom line? Worth it. These retail for $78. That's not what I paid. I'd recommend doing what I did, finding a pair somewhere for less and trying them out. They're not for everyone. But now that I've auditioned a pair, I'd definitely pay full price for other pairs.
